HW-M3 Offline AOI
The HW-M3 is an offline automated optical inspection (AOI) machine from HWGC, a China SMT machine manufacturer, for board inspection after reflow and wave soldering outside the production line. A high-speed full-color digital camera and a high-brightness RRGB coaxial LED tower light inspect boards on a marble platform flat to within 3 μm, comparing solder joints with the process database. It handles PCBs from 50x50 mm to 430x330 mm, needs no compressed air and weighs about 400 kg, making it a flexible AOI machine for high-mix PCB assembly and SMT quality control.
Key Features
- Offline AOI for post-reflow and post-wave-solder inspection, ideal for high-mix, low-volume lines
- Marble platform flat within 3 μm for stable, temperature-insensitive imaging
- High-speed full-color digital camera: 0402 components processed in under 6 ms, under 100 ms per frame
- High-brightness RRGB coaxial ring tower LED light source for uniform color illumination
- Weighted imaging data difference analysis plus color image comparison and color extraction
- Multiple algorithms including similarity, binarization, OCR and OCV, with automatic parameter setting
- Safety light curtain protection, SPC statistics and repeat-defect alarm settings

SMT Industry News
Smart factory integration with MES connectivity and real-time process data is spreading across SMT lines, and inspection equipment is expected to feed quality data into that system rather than sit outside it. AI server boards and high-end computing PCBs are also driving strong demand for SMT capacity, which raises the value of every board sent to rework. An offline AOI machine answers both trends: it changes programs quickly for high-mix orders and exports SPC results pointing to the printing and placement processes behind a defect. For factories balancing throughput and quality, offline inspection remains a cost-effective way to keep PCB assembly under control.
Applications
The HW-M3 sits beside the production line and is loaded manually, which suits factories running many products in small batches. Quality teams use it to inspect boards after reflow and after wave soldering, checking solder joints, component presence, polarity and offset against the process database. It also handles PCB and FPC assemblies with warp or flex, because the conveyor compensates for board warpage automatically. Contract manufacturers, repair stations and OEM quality departments use it for incoming audits, first-article checks and batch sampling, supported by SPC reports and barcode traceability.
