Mounting Machine Production Line Use Plan

As electronic products become more complex and advanced, there is an increasing demand for programmable components with more functions and higher densities. These advanced components often require a long programming time in the OBP environment, which directly reduces the production efficiency of the product.

Similarly, components of the same density provided by different semiconductor device manufacturers have very large differences in the time spent in programming. Generally speaking, the components with the fastest programming speed are also the most expensive. . So people are faced with a dilemma when considering whether to pay more for components with fast programming capabilities, whether to increase productivity and reduce the cost of equipment, or use cheaper components with slower programming times and live with it. The distress of reduced productivity.

In addition, manufacturers must remember that in order to be able to cope with the large volume of product demand that arises in the short term, they cannot rely on the use of the most suitable semiconductor devices. The lack of the best available components forces manufacturers to re-select alternative programming components, each with different programming times, prices and availability. For OBP, this situation is obviously quite difficult to implement effective production line scheduling.

Because automatic programming has the advantage of being faster than a single-interface OBP solution, the impact of changes in programming time can be completely ignored. Also, since automated programming solutions typically support thousands of components from different suppliers, the problems associated with using alternative components can be mitigated.

Cost of PCB

There has been an impressive increase in the demand for programming and testing of advanced PICs. This is because chip suppliers use new silicon technologies to create components with the highest speed and performance. Careful programming must take into account transmission line availability, signal line impedance, pin insertion, and component characteristics. If this is not the case, problems can occur one after another, including: ground bounces, crosstalk, and signal reflections during programming.

Automated high-quality programming equipment, through good design, can minimize these problems. To be able to do ATE programming, the PCB designer must deal with the surrounding circuits, capacitance, resistance, inductance, signal crosstalk, Vcc and Gnd reflections, and pin-to-disk fixtures. All of this will greatly affect the yield and quality of programming. This ultimately increases the cost of the PCB due to the increased space requirements on the board, as well as the need for discrete components (lugs, FETs, capacitors) and increased power supply capability. Although every circuit board is different, the price of a PCB generally increases by 2% to 10%.
